Whoa The Woad

Woad is the only natural blue dye, no chemicals in sight.
It comes from the woad plant and has been used to dye cloth since the
time of the Egyptians, who used it to dye the cloth for wrapping mummies.

Denise Lambert is the owner of Bleu Pastel de Lectoure.
Her company is based here in southwest France and carries everything blue you could
ever imagine- from cosmetics, to clothing to art supplies. Kate hosted a dye workshop
at her house, and 8 women came for 2 full days of dipping and dying festivities.

By the end of the day, these five white twist scarves had been
transformed into a perfect gradation of blues from light to dark.
